Mission + Vision

Defying Dementia’s mission is to build a compassionate and supportive community for individuals living with dementia, along with their families and caregivers.

We strive to create a space where knowledge is shared and offer a platform for the exchange of best practices, education, and valuable tips and techniques.

We are dedicated to guiding individuals through the challenges of dementia with an emphasis on promoting the highest level of independence and enabling meaningful, person-centered activities.

Together, we defy dementia by fostering connection, resilience, and a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of life for everyone touched by this disease.

Our Story

Since 2003, Jenny Jacobs has dedicated her career as a speech-language pathologist to helping others, focusing on the elderly while also supporting special needs children and adults in schools and private practice.

Jenny's passion for dementia care is deeply personal; after being the primary caregiver for her father, who passed away from Parkinson’s disease and dementia, she understands the complex emotions of caring for someone who is still living yet slipping away.

With expertise in management and clinical program development, particularly in cognition and dementia, she aims to help individuals stay connected with their loved ones despite cognitive decline. As a certified dementia practitioner with training in Montessori dementia care, she is committed to providing compassionate, specialized support.

A devoted wife and mother of three, Jenny combines professional expertise with personal understanding in her work with families navigating the challenges of caregiving for aging loved ones.
